Vitamins are organic compounds which perform many important functions in the human body, ensuring its proper functioning. These substances are not synthesised in the body, and must be supplied from the outside. It is particularly important for the health and well-being of the skin to be provided with vitamins A, E, and C. They act as antioxidants, and provide a kind of "protective filter" (the photoprotective effect) against the harmful effects of - UV radiation, the most-important factor contributing to premature skin aging, so-called photo-aging.

 

Vitamins A, E and C provide effective protection against oxidative stress (the dominance of free oxygen radicals), caused by UV radiation.

 

It should be added that, apart from their antioxidant effect, and the ability to reduce the damage to the skin cells, vitamins A, E and C also perform other functions. Vitamin E effectively reduces the inflammatory changes associated with exposure to UV radiation, i.e. erythema and oedema, and improves the hydration of the stratum corneum of the epidermis, thus reducing the roughness of the skin. Vitamin A stimulates the proliferation of new keratinocytes in the epidermis, and accelerates their differentiation, thus facilitating the processes of epidermal repair (it also supports the penetration of active substances through the horny layer). Vitamin C is essential for the proper synthesis of collagen in the dermis, and also has an anti-inflammatory effect, similarly to vitamin E (this effect is stronger when both vitamins – C and E – are combined). Another important property of this substance is the ability to reduce hyperpigmentation (the depigmentation effect), reinforced by the combination of vitamin C and vitamin E.

 

VECTICELL AEC is a rare combination of the three most-popular vitamins in cosmetics. In-vitro tests showed that VECTICELL AEC is an innovative product which increases the stability of vitamins A, E and C contained in cosmetic formulations, and improves their antioxidant and photoprotective effects. Moreover, the encapsulation of vitamins in VECTICELL ensures their safety of use, even in high concentrations, improves the absorption of vitamins, and effects their gradual release and high bioavailability. The in-vivo tests demonstrated that VECTICELL AEC can be used to create a product with very-good cosmetic properties, which will improve the appearance and condition of various types of mature skin (by supporting skin regeneration and improving its elasticity and smoothness).

 

VECTICELL AEC is recommended for use in products intended for everyday care of skin with signs of aging (dry, with a tendency towards decreased elasticity and wrinkle formation).
